Watson Broadfoot
Contemporary Artist
Contemporary Australian paintings exploring erosion, memory, weather and presence through layered abstraction.
Recent exhibitions and awards include Northern Beaches Gallery, Mona Vale Creative Space, the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize, Mosman Rowers Art Prize and St Columba Art Prize.
Erosion & Weather
Through layering, veiling, scraping and removal, these paintings investigate processes of erosion, accumulation and change. Atmospheric surfaces and fractured forms reflect the effects of weather, time and environmental fragility.
Works about Presence
These works explore human presence within shifting environments. Figures appear as witnesses, markers of scale, or traces of connection, reflecting on memory, absence and the relationship between people and place.
Colour and Surface
These works explore the expressive possibilities of colour, texture and materiality. Through layered surfaces and shifting fields of colour, they examine mood, rhythm and the physical presence of paint.
Sculpture
Working in parallel with painting, these sculptural works explore balance, movement and form through a tactile and material-led process.
